Art 1 Honors:

Students will learn to see the world around them and draw it in a highly realistic manner, in the style of the Old Masters. Pencil is the primary medium, supplemented by charcoal, pen and ink, conte' crayon, and acrylics. Topics covered include construction drawing, perspective, and the logic of light, composition, and color theory. Subjects include still life, figure, portrait, and landscape. The student example to the right is a cloth study done in charcoal.

9 Honors:

Students will learn to see the world around them and learn to record it using a variety of mediums like: pencil, charcoal, pen and ink, conte' crayon, watercolor, acrylics paint and printing ink . Topics covered include construction drawing, perspective, the logic of light, composition, and color theory. Subjects include still life, figure, portrait, and landscape. The student example above works with linaer perspective using paint and paper to create the image.

Ceramics 2:

This course builds on students clay experiances and challanges students to clay and the techniques used to create functional and or decorative three dimensional objects. Works will develop through the use of a variety of methods, etc.: pinch, coil, slab, the potters wheel, and molds. Art history and cultural influences will be investigated during the course of your studies.
