Art is the reflection of our human experiences. It is often intellectual, physical, and or spiritual in nature. My perception of those realities creates an internal conversation that fuels my imagery and my relationship with subject matter, materials, and techniques. I often explore religion, and its ambiguities, through abstracting iconic imagery and working with the emotional qualities of color, line, textures, and space. Although making images is an intimate process, the end result is to commune with an audience and share common experiences, be that intellectual, physical, and or spiritual.

After spending many years in New York City, kicking around in a variety of performing arts venues and evading national recognition, I decided to redirect my life and focus, once again, on painting. I received my BFA at West Chester University and my MAT at the University of the Arts. My experiences with these institutions cultivated my love for the visual arts and my desired to teach.

As an art teacher, my goal is simple yet complex. I facilitate studio experiences, assist students with developing technical skills, expand visual vocabularies, and foster an environment that is safe and comfortable, allowing room for exploring, experimenting, and most importantly, questioning. I try to challenge and inspire my students to solve problems, make connections, and use the visual arts as their voice.
