THE STRATEGIC PLAN

REDEFINING SUCCESS

TRANSFORMATIVE CURRICULUM

A COMMITMENT TO PROFESSIONAL LEARNING

STUDENT-DRIVEN SCHOOLS

A SPIRIT OF COMMUNITY

Transform how we define, measure, and report student achievement with a focus on each student’s individualized

growth and mastery in areas that extend beyond traditional academic indicators.

Shift from content area silos to a connected curriculum that prepares

students to transfer knowledge and thinking strategies across disciplines.

Transform professionallearning from a top-down model to one that honors

and harnesses our educators’ collective wisdom.

Adjust our system from one characterized by heavily prescribed requirements to one that affords more self-directed goal setting and positive risk taking – where students navigate

their own learning in close

partnership with professionals.

Transform our approach to community outreach from one that is less coordinated to one that strategically leverages and maximizes community resources to strengthen our schools.

ALL FORWARD: STRATEGIC PATHWAYS

STRATEGIC PLAN OVERVIEW

Via The Art Department

Every student in every art class is starting in a particular place on the creative continuum. Our focus is on student's growth. Failing forward is another focus. We want our students to be comfortable with making errors and taking risk. Success comes from that.

The art curriculum is built on the concept of creativity and critical thinking. We want our students to observe, consider, and comment on their world.

This years focus for the Art Staff is technology and growing our own understanding and use of 21st century tools.

This is less of an adjustment as we have always championed student centered learning, where we partner with students. It is why the arts always have been core to cognitive development.

Hopefully this magazine, our annual art show, our partnership with the Scholorship Fund, and future endeavors will grow our exposure and relationship with the LMHS community.
