6PM Documentary : Barbara ’ s Crusade
Carl and Kathy Hersh , of Close-up Productions , will show a short documentary of Barbara Baer Capitman ’ s successful crusade to save the Art Deco Historic district . The film features new interviews collected through the Miami Beach Visual Memoirs Project and historic footage of Barbara and local developers . This video and the interviews collected through the Miami Beach Visual Memoirs Project are made possible by a grant from the Miami Beach Visitors and Convention Authority .
Carl Hersh is an award-winning producer , director , editor , videographer , and journalist with an extensive background in news , documentary and “ reality ” television production .
Kathy Barber Hersh is a producer and writer with 30 years experience in the U . S ., Latin America and Britain . As a journalist , she was a radio and television correspondent for ABC News , reported for UPI , and wrote for numerous newspapers and magazines . With her husband Carl , she has created a number of award-winning documentaries , including Michener At Work , about the author James Michener , and The Lost Wooden Synagogues of Eastern Europe , given a special showing at the U . S . Holocaust Museum . She produced Fighting Fair , an award-winning video for children about Martin Luther King ’ s philosophy of nonviolence .

11am 14th World Congress on Art Deco Cleveland 2017 with Mick Beyer
Mick Beyer is President of the 20th Century Society USA , an organization dedicated to the art , architecture , and design of the 20th Century . He will present a preview of the Art Deco attractions in Cleveland , Ohio , site of the 14th World Congress on Art Deco , to be held May 14-21 , 2017 . The theme of the Congress is “ Artists , Designers , and Craftsmen ,” highlighting Cleveland ’ s strong tradition of Art Deco art and craftsmanship , and in particular industrial design .
1PM Retro Couture : Miami Fashion Culture with Chris Rapalo
A documentary short film will be shown on the history of the Miami fashion industry . Vintage footage from the Wolfson Archives and new interviews with locals captures the colors of Miami fashion . Filmmaker Christopher Rapalo will present the film and answer questions following the showing . The film was presented as part of the 2016 Miami Fashion Film Festival .
Christopher Rapalo is a filmmaker and photographer based out of Miami , Florida . Rapalo began his professional work with Third Dream Media , a digital agency founded by him in 2014 , he later co produced events in
