TAKE PRIDE

Love where you live

Do you feel proud of your neighbourhood ? Do you love our borough ’ s green spaces ? Or does somewhere near you need some care and attention ? Either way , perhaps it is time to get outdoors and get your hands dirty .

Ealing Council signed-up to the Great British Spring Clean , a national campaign led by Keep Britain Tidy , which has included various community clean-up activities between 3-5 March .

Families , individuals , community groups , charities , sports clubs , businesses and councils are all taking part in the Great British Spring Clean , helping to clean ‘ grot-spots ’ or making somewhere litter-free and spic and span .
But in Ealing , the council wants this to just be the start . The hope is it will act as a springboard for communities and neighbourhoods to come together to organise their own activities on an ongoing basis .
Of course , the council spends millions of pounds every year collecting rubbish and recycling ; and on clearing litter and debris from our streets . But there are all kinds of ways you can help to make our neighbourhoods look good and feel like places to be proud of .
DO YOU HAVE AN IDEA ? You may want to club together with like-minded residents or neighbours to turn an unloved corner into a local asset , or arrange to help people less fortunate . Or perhaps just arrange a community clear-up . Bubble is a website that makes it possible for anyone to organise activities , ‘ crowdfund ’ projects and volunteer for events . It can help you turn an idea into a reality . Just visit www . dosomethinggood . co . uk to find out more and see page 43 of this magazine for a couple of examples .
KEEP INFORMED AND AWARE You can keep an eye on community activities through Facebook at facebook . com / EalingLondon and the ealingnewsextra . co . uk website .
‘ A BOROUGH WORTH LOOKING AFTER ’ Councillor Bassam Mahfouz , cabinet member for transport , environment and leisure , said : “ It is not just the council ’ s responsibility to keep the borough clean and tidy . It is all of ours . Anyone who lives or works here should take pride in their home or workplace . “ The Great British Spring Clean has been a great way to remind everyone of this fact , and also a fantastic chance to get people inspired to think of other ways for the community to club together and do
