Bowie High School
conceptualized by DeFilippis, the students turned the
movement into a reality.
Students filled the school with positive quotes on posters and
gathered in the hallways and other areas around campus.
Student groups such as Volunteer Voices and the Drum
Line joined in the movement as well. #weareyou15 posters
greeted students at the front door. Students walked by,
stopped and read almost all of the posters. Photos by Trinh

Students participated in the annual Cardboard Boat Regatta
at Hurricane Harbor in Arlington on Saturday, April 25.
The Science Team along with the help of faculty and staff
created boats made out of cardboard that competed with
area schools. The team placed second in the team challenge
and tied with first in the high school challenge. Other
notable awards were that of the second place finish in the
Built on Site category where students built a boat on site in a
two hour time frame.
The Bowie Souljahs competed in the National Stepping
Association’s National Stepping Competition in Daytona
Beach, Florida. The team won the title of National
Champions during the competition. This is the second
consecutive championship for the team. This win brings a
total of four National championships to the Bowie step teams
in the last five years. The team is coached by business teacher
Chris Caldwell and English teacher Doris Morehead. â€
