Student Accomplishments 2014-2015 Entrepreneurship Contest In the fall, students in third through sixth grades were challenged to think like an entrepreneur in the What’s Your Big Idea? Entrepreneurship Contest. The elementary contest was created nine years ago by marketing students at The Class in The Parks. For the nine years of this creative and innovative program, the AISD and the Arlington Chamber of Commerce have partnered together to engage students in entrepreneurship. This unique collaborative program has been recognized across the state of Texas as well as across the country. The students have the option of showing their idea in either art form or in an essay. Both of these contests give students the opportunity to express their big ideas for future products and businesses. This year, there were 1,871 entries in the elementary contest. 12 Arlington School & Family - June/July 2015 The Big Idea contest goes beyond the sixth grade – to include seventh and eighth grades. It is slightly different from the elementary school version being that the older students had to submit all of their creative ideas in an essay form only. With 1,053 entries in the junior high contest, this entrepreneurship Big Idea program just keeps growing. Similar to the elementary entries, the junior high entries were judged by the Arlington Chamber’s Champion Education volunteers. †
