Arlington Council of PTAs
The Arlington Council of PTAs acts as
the primary channel of communication
within each local PTA. It provides
information, inspiration, support,
guidance and instruction to all
members of local PTAs in the Arlington
Independent School District. It also
serves to strengthen local PTAs, develop
leadership potential and promote PTA
membership and advance Texas PTA’s
goals, programs and initiatives.
This year, the Arlington Council of PTAs
proudly presented awards to 70 individuals
for Texas PTA Life Memberships,
two individuals for National PTA Life
Memberships and nine individuals for
Extended Service Awards.
This year’s Founders’ Day Banquet
was held March 31. Visit the website
at www.arlingtoncouncilofptas.org for

training opportunities and more! †
Each spring, the Council of PTAs holds
an annual Founders’ Day Banquet.
Founders’ Day is a time to show honor
and respect to PTA leaders who have
paved the way and to honor newly
awarded Texas PTA Life Members,
National PTA Life Members and
Extended Service Award recipients
locally. Also honored are past council
presidents and all AISD school
namesakes who are able to attend.
Texas PTA Life Membership is
considered one of the highest honors
that may be presented to individuals
for outstanding service to children
and youth. Recipients are individuals
who have contributed significantly to
PTA. In 1987, the Texas PTA Board
of Directors developed criteria for
awarding an Extended Service Award
to those who have continued giving
outstanding service to the Texas PTA.
The recipient must have been actively
involved in PTA for 10 years and be a
Texas Life Member. The National PTA
Life Membership is the highest honor
a PTA can bestow. It is an especially
significant way to honor worthy people
in the school, community and state. The
honoree is usually someone who has
given outstanding service to children,
and promoted their well-being by
serving as an advocate for children in
such areas as education, health, safety
and legislation.
