Nonprofit Organizations Nichols Junior High Combats Hunger in the Community Nichols Junior High students helped kick off the Souper Bowl of Caring for North Texas on Jan. 16. Students packed the Lamar High School gymnasium and participated in a Scholar Bowl pep rally. Former Dallas Cowboys great Drew Pearson was on hand to talk about the importance of helping to tackle hunger and support their community. Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, Cowboys mascot Rowdy, AISD Superintendent Dr. Marcelo Cavazos, AISD Trustees Peter Baron, Gloria Peña, Dr. Aaron Reich and Jamie Sullins, as well as several people representing local grocery stores, 40 Arlington School & Family - April/May 2015 helped make the event special. Students from Nichols also presented Mission Arlington with a check for $1,545.10 from the school’s penny war competition. †
