Campus News Farrell Elementary From conception to action, the members of Student Council at Farrell Elementary have been on a mission of their very own - making a positive contribution and giving back to the community. It all began in December 2014 when Student Council sponsored their annual food drive to benefit the food pantry at Mission Arlington. With the added incentive of witnessing their school principal dressed as an elf, the response of the student body was overwhelming. The result was a donation of more than 4,000 canned goods and nonperishable items to help replenish shelves emptied by the demands of the community during the Thanksgiving holiday. The story does not end abruptly. In February 2015, during “Random Acts of Kindness” month, the Student Council took an opportunity to tour the operations of Mission Arlington, located in the heart of downtown Arlington. A 16-member crew, along with their sponsors and school principal, swept, mopped, vacuumed and shined two facilities located and operated on the campus of Mission Arlington. Needless to say, the students left with a sense of accomplishment and a lesson learned in compassion. † 24 Arlington School & Family - April/May 2015
