I EDITORIAL have been mentioning (with some trepidation) when asked to write the odd editorial for my mother, Diana, that the thought of taking over from her filled me with something akin to terror. Not terror in the “armed gunmen are out to get me” kind of way, but certainly more than the mild sense of panic I felt before an exam at university or before I have root canal. That being said, I waved my mother and editor off with a great deal of pleasure – no one deserves the opportunity to put her feet up for a bit more than Diana. She has been at the helm of the magazine for a long time now. Virtually every waking moment was spent working, whether chasing up professionals for text and photographs or attempting to convince people that they should advertise or looking for interesting projects to feature – the list goes on. Her work ethic is unsurpassed, her dedication unmatched. Shelley Woode-Smith She and my father are now settling into their gorgeous home on the Garden OUR TEAM Route and, knowing my mother as I do, their isn’t much relaxation going on! That mantle That being said, I am pretty confident in the magazine itself. Peter, my mother’s partner and co-publisher, remains with the magazine and his wife, Louise, has [email protected] come on board as my assistant editor. It truly is a family magazine! Louise is CONSULTING EDITOR Diana Woode proving to be a dynamo and, I am sure, all of you will enjoy getting to know her [email protected] DESIGN Peter Fenner-Solomon and Peter will continue designing the magazine in the impeccable manner he has always done. We have some wonderful new ideas too – watch this space! The panic is slowly settling as we put our first magazine without our guru [email protected] to bed. We think it has a great spread of projects – typically not without some ADVERTISING SALES Shelley Woode-Smith Louise Fenner-Solomon Diana is encouraging. She had no doubt – Peter and I have been involved since ACCOUNTS difficulties – and the reality of actually being able to do this with little help from she took over in 2000 – but seeing the finished product helps us believe it too. Finally, We welcome articles, photographs and news items relating to architecture, buildings, building methods and building materials. Good quality photographs are vital. Only s
