Sutherland Expands Mechanical Division Sutherland continues with its multi-disciplinary growth into the Johannesburg market. This national growth started with a branch office opening in Park Town North in 2005 that initially only offered structural and civil services. D ue to strong client demand in Gauteng as well as Sub Saharan Africa, Sutherland recently appointed two new senior engineers to the fast growing mechanical division. Technical Directors Gavin Pereira (Head of Wet Services JHB) and Lindsay Lund (Head of HVAC JHB) joined Sutherland in late 2014 at their new, larger offices in the recently refurbished 25 Rudd Road building opposite Wanderers Golf Club, Illovo. Technical and CAD support teams, with full Revit 3D capabilities to ensure fully integrated and optimised multi-disciplinary service offerings for both these sub divisions are now well established and growing fast. Gavin Pereira Gavin Pereira has over 28 years of experience as he joins Sutherland as Head of Wet Services Johannesburg. Prior to joining Sutherland, Gavin headed up WSP’s Wet Services division before starting his own company, GK Pereira. His profile includes projects such as Discovery Head Office in Sandton with 82,000m2 lettable, A-grade office space with 6 star green star aspirations. In this issue of Architect and Builder Magazine alone, Gavin provided consulting services on 15 Alice Lane South, Matlosana Mall and Steyn City Clubhouse. Lindsay Lund To establish a truly multi-disciplinary national service offering to their clients, Lindsay Lund, who has extensive HVAC experience spanning 29 years, joined the Johannesburg mechanical team as Head of HVAC. Previously managing his own practice before heading up an international practice’s HVAC department in Gauteng for many years, he was involved in a wide range of commercial office projects. These include Worley Parson’s Head Office at Melrose Arch, airports (OR Tambo), schools (Oprah Winfrey Academy for Girls), hotels and a various retail projects nationwide such as Atterbury’s recently completed Newton Junction.
