The architectural concept emphasises the design and realisation of a building which is welcoming and accessible to all and which , by the provision of legible architectural design and transparent space planning ( from arrival , through reception and security , and into well-lit , wellventilated and appropriately proportioned spaces ), offers pleasant and desirable places to work , interact , and liaise , in partnership with a landscape approach which offers choice and variety to users .
Critically , the expression aims to create a building that expresses the Department ’ s vision and ambitions and establish an architectural language appropriate to the work of Stats SA , the symbolism favoured by the Department , and the urban-edge context of the buildings and site . The architectural expression is modern but timeless , and marries the sleekness of international practice with the soulful rootedness of Africa .
