Arguably the most impressive and ambitious commercial building project undertaken in South Africa in the last 10 years , the new Sasol building is a testament to the vision and skill of the entire professional team appointed to this iconic structure .

Background During May 2013 , Paragon Architects was appointed as the architect of a new corporate office on 50 Katherine Street in Sandton to be built with Alchemy Property Investment and Development Company and the Sasol Pension Fund . The 11-storey , 47m tall office complex has 67,000m 2 of rentable area , almost 100,000m 2 of basement parking for over 3,000 cars , and more than 3,000m 2 of landscaping .
Sasol , the tenant , is a very large multinational petrochemical organisation with a wide variety of business units and activities . This building was to replace their current occupation of 17 buildings in Rosebank and elsewhere in Johannesburg and unify the Sasol corporate culture . The new building reduces Sasol ’ s office footprint by almost 40 %.
