When it comes to fashion, Mindy Gill-Johnson has a penchant for the dramatic. The 38-year-old
Saugeen First Nation woman loves to wear bright, bold colours — powerful peacock, eye-popping
fuchsia, vibrant violet — and dazzling designs. But, when it comes to eyewear, the museum
curator favours the much-less conspicuous.
The next glasses to stand out were a
pair of Dana Buchman Vision Florrie
frames in black with a tortoiseshelllike design.
“These are much different than
what I usually go with,” she said.
“But I like the bold frame and the
flecking of purple.”
“Oddly enough, when it
comes to glasses, I look
for something that blends
in because I wear so much
colour everywhere else,”
she said during a trip to
an optician’s office near
her Bruce County home.
Her goal, she said, is to
find frames that can
match any outfit.
“If I could afford glasses
in every colour and pair
them with my clothes
for that day, I would. But
since I usually only have
one or two pairs, I like to
stick to frames that can
go with anything.”
