we beat all of the crews,” she laughed. Before leaving for New Zealand the team had a stop in Vancouver. Nolan was traveling with her guide dog. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, she had to leave her guide dog in Vancouver. “It’s not even like leaving your pet behind this is almost like a part of me and I had to leave him.” SATISLOH NAMES PETER LOTHES PRESIDENT OF NORTH AMERICA INC “What I thought was the only way to make this worthwhile was to come back with a medal,” she said. “So that is what fueled me through the race. It was an incredible race.” Great Britain has always been the team to beat and they were neck and neck with them all the way down the racecourse. It was so close, and then they ended up pulling ahead of them, beating them by just half a second. Effective April 1st, Peter Lothes will be the new President of Satisloh North America, Inc and as a new member of the Satisloh Global Ophthalmic Executive Team (OET). In this role he will be responsible for leading all sales and operations for Satisloh in the United States and Canada. “I remember thinking; I am never doing that again,” she laughed. “I was thrilled that we were up on the podium and they were playing Oh Canada. But there was also that feeling; I was in pain for a long time after.” He replaces Larry Clarke who has been promoted to head up Satisloh globally. “My kids are very proud of me,” she said. “When they were younger it was great. I always thought they would be embarrassed to tell people their mom can’t see. It ended up being the first thing they would tell people. They would say my mom is blind but she rows for Canada. They are really proud of it.” “I have rarely met anyone in our industry with more passion for meeting the needs of customers than Pete and I am proud to introduce him to you,” said Clarke in notice to Satisloh partners. “I am sure you will get the chance to meet him soon.” Lothes has been in the optical industry for 25 years. As President of his family’s business, Select Optical in Columbus, he lead all aspects of it, from marketing and sales to manufacturing and corporate functions from 1991-2009. Select Optical was acquired by Essilor in 2004 and Lothes continued on as its President until 2009, at which time he decided to take the corporate route and relocated to Dallas to join Essilor as Vice President of Operations—Partner Labs. “Pete’s experience, starting with his family’s retail chain and independent wholesale lab, followed by his corporate career, running some of the largest labs in North America, gives him a unique understanding of how to meet the needs of all types and sizes of labs,” said Clarke. In 2013, Lothes assumed the role of Vice President of National Labs in conjunction with continuing his role as VP of Operations for both ELOA and Partner Labs. Since that time, he has been responsible for Essilor’s five largest production labs in the US and Mexico. For more information visit www.satisloh.com 34 Optical Prism | April 2015
