Hyped as a super food for 2017, the mushroom has amazing health properties that far exceed that of many other meat alternatives. Functional medicine experts worldwide tout their abilities to fight cancer, suppress inflammation, balance blood sugar levels, boost the immune system and more. They are at the root of many phar! maceutical applications, including cholesterol lowering statin medications, with several varieties dubbed as adaptogenic– a category of substances that help the body to adapt to stress and hormone fluctuation.
