Pastimes STEP 1 What You’ll Need: • A photocopied image • Unfinished wood painting panel the size of your image • Artist Gesso STEP 2 • Krylon Clear Glaze Spray • Craft Paint or Stain • Chip brush or other inexpensive bristle brush (Foam doesn’t work well.) Simple How-To Steps 1. Paint or stain the edges of your wood. STEP 3 2. Using a paint brush, generously cover the image side of your photocopy with Artist Gesso, covering it entirely. You’ll need a thick layer, so apply generously over the entire image. Brush up and down and across, making sure that the entire image is covered. 3. Press the image, photo side down, onto the wood panel. Rub firmly to smooth out the image and remove air bubbles. You can use a credit card to remove obvious air bubbles and use a straight pin to release air where needed. April/May 2017 4. Let it dry completely. To be safe, leave the image unattended for 24 hours. 73
