This collaborative collection revived a series of furniture and lighting that the man himself designed for a French industrial company back in the forties. The new RAW office series now sports a bespoke palette that’s inspired by the greens used in industrial machinery and comes with a few hidden mod cons, because let’s face it, we do like our creature comforts… For the second time Vitra and the Dutch fashion giant G-Star RAW collaborated to revisit the designs of Jean Prouvé, playing on the par- Made only from steel and timber, with leather and premium fabric finishes, this collection’s minimalist aesthetic is a nod to the original Prouvé design and identifies strongly with the Dutch fashion heavyweight’s identity and philosophy. Clerkenwell Design Week 2015 has come and gone. For those not in the know, the CDW is when creative businesses and architects flock to the Clerkenwell area and use the exhibition of their wares and designs as an excuse to come together and drink wine. They chose the pieces either on their previous popularity or on their unfulfilled potential, with the SCP founder, Sheridan Coakley, saying some of the pieces might have been a tad too avant-garde back in the day. Lastly, Cassina chose the 50th anniversary of the launch of the LC50 range – as well as the anniversary of Le Corbusier’s death – to commemorate the legendary designer with a re-issue and extension of the original 1960’s LC50 range. Being before their time, Le Corbusier, Jeanneret and Perriand realised how important the environment was and incorporated sustainable techniques in making furniture. In celebration of this, Cassina is using totally organic leather and a microfiber that’s produced without any solvents. What these three manufacturers managed to do was proof that good furniture, much like fine wine, just gets better with age. FEATURES ENTERTAINMENT AWARDS – PAGE 4 – – PAGE 6 – – PAGE 7 –
