• Research and Development led the department through a major transition to a new Records Management System .
• Policy and Accreditation remain a core priority for the department .
• The Quartermaster ’ s Office had a complete remodel of its space .
Research and Development Unit led the department ’ s efforts to purchase and implement a new Records Management System . The existing system was at the end of its life cycle and needed replacement . The unit ’ s research efforts resulted in the purchase of a new product which required extensive training for all personnel . The unit faced several challenges , including the migration of previous data from the old system to the new system . Management processes were remapped , and officers moved to a new direct entry system that allows them to enter their reports from their patrol vehicles .
Arlington , Texas Police Department
After an annual review of standards by The Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement ( CALEA ), the Policy and Accreditation sergeant ensures that the department is in compliance with all mandatory CALEA standards . Standard Operating Procedures manuals from the various units in the police department are now reviewed annually to maintain current policies and procedures for employees . General Orders is in a continuous review process which ensures the department meets and exceeds national law enforcement standards . The Quartermaster ’ s storage area was completely remodeled
to provide ease of interaction with staff requesting equipment and uniforms . The department switched to a new super shirt and lightweight duty pants for sworn officers after a pilot wear project . Under the Quartermaster ’ s supervision , the organization hired three fleet specialist positions to assist with the department ’ s fleet of vehicles . The department replaced 33 Dodge Chargers and outfitted the Warrant Unit with four new marked units .
