The department partnered with NOT IN OUR TOWN to host a film screening of Waking in Oak Creek . The screening placed awareness on issues to address hate , bullying , and build safe , inclusive communities for all . Not In Our Town also began filming for a best practices video production that will air in 2017 that includes some key initiatives that APD is doing to make Arlington better .
The department partnered with the University of Texas at Arlington and International Association of Chiefs of Police to host a PROCEDURAL JUSTICE SUMMIT . Dr . Tom Tyler , Macklin Fleming Professor of Psychology at Yale Law School and a leading academic researcher of procedural justice concepts , served as the keynote speaker . United States Attorney for the Northern District of Texas John Parker addressed the audience on key topics related to collaborative reform and consent decrees . This event was well attended by city managers , attorneys , and area police chiefs .
