Cole’s wish to be a New York City Firefighter, 2004
Who is your hero? Is it a parent, athlete or superhero? Since the age of five
Coles’s heroes have been firefighters, especially those in New York City who
protected civilians during the 9/11 attacks.
Cole had just been diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia when
he was admitted to the hospital and watched the countless hours of news
coverage on 9/11. Even as a child, he was fascinated by the news stories
and learning about the heroic acts of the firefighters.
Cole received his wish from Make-A-Wish® Colorado in 2004 at the age
of seven. He wished to go to New York City and meet the firefighters who
helped protect the city.
