GOVERNMENT LEAD TEAM
In a large area that includes 17 municipalities and a county government, it is
important to have opportunities for leaders to discuss current issues, share
best practices and find commonalities that bond them to the community as a
whole. The Polk Vision Government Team works to bring together all levels of
government operating on behalf of Polk County to create more cooperation and
teamwork in support of LEAD Team initiatives.

MAYORS ROUNDTABLE
For the 5th year in a row, the Polk Vision Government Team hosted a half-day
roundtable discussion for the mayors of Polk County. This unique event allows the
mayors to discuss topics critical to their communities and the county as a whole.
Mayors from 12 of the county’s 17 municipalities attended the 2015 event which
was moderated by Pat Steed, Executive Director of the Central Florida Regional
Development Council. Topics covered included economic development, infrastructure, mass transit, fire fees and a strong mayor form of government.
The Roundtable allows mayors to highlight their city’s strengths and to share
challenges, solutions and best practices. The participating mayors have repeatedly
expressed their feeling that the relationships formed through connecting with their
counterparts will benefit their community and in turn, our county as a whole.
