GOVERNMENT Vision Before 2030, Polk County will have a comprehensive system of government that is effective, efficient, diverse and responsive to the basic needs of its citizens. The Polk Vision Government Team works to bring together all levels of government operating on behalf of Polk County to create more cooperation and teamwork in support of LEAD Team initiatives. This unique event allows the mayors to discuss topics critical to their communities and the county as a whole. Mayors from 12 of the county’s 17 municipalities attended the 2015 event which was moderated by Pat Steed, Executive Director of the Central Florida Regional Development Council. Topics covered included economic development, infrastructure, mass transit, fire fees and a strong mayor form of government. The Roundtable allows mayors to highlight their city’s strengths and to share challenges, solutions and best practices. The participating mayors have repeatedly expressed their feeling that the relationships formed through connecting with their counterparts will benefit their community and in turn, our county as a whole. 18 “The City of Lakeland has always seen our partnership with Polk Vision to be a vital conduit to creating a community led partnership of many different organizations, businesses, government entities building synergies to develop solutions to key and critical issues impacting our County.
