Investing in extraordinary

Everything the board has done this year , has been guided by our four strategic imperatives : extraordinary girls , extraordinary learning , extraordinary teachers , extraordinary community .
1 . Extraordinary Girls . Good work has been done on broadening the qualities of our student body . The school is poised to accept and fund extraordinary girls from the broad spectrum of Vancouver demographics to ensure that our student body matches the rich diversity of our city , while removing the barrier of cost through a robust bursary program . We will markedly increase the number of girls on financial assistance starting from next September ’ s intake .
2 . Extraordinary Learning . The board will ensure that resources are available to upgrade and widen , where necessary , our learning programs . The arts are an important part of these programs . We recently approved the $ 7.1 million rebuild and seismic upgrade of the Addison Auditorium and the Fine Arts Centre . Our wonderful new school theatre and arts building will be ready by September 2017 .
3 . Extraordinary Teachers . With a strong cadre of teaching professionals already in our school , we are now committed to creating an intentional framework that attracts , retains and inspires our best teachers .
4 . Extraordinary Community . This year our school started having lunch together in Manrell Hall . Dr Dawson had a vision – put away the devices and enjoy a daily ritual of eating good food as a community . Despite pressures to skip on lunch , she insisted that healthy bodies and healthy minds go together . Eating together in the uplifting setting of Manrell Hall is now a successful part of the CHS educational experience .
Once the school theatre and arts complex is completed next year , we will have spent $ 80 million in 10 years to complete this lovely campus . This will have been achieved purely through the generosity of present and past parents . Other tireless contributions cannot be measured in dollars . They all give the school the dynamism and the stability from which to grow in the ways which I have described above and as the school continues :
“ Inspiring girls to discover and pursue their personal excellence ”.
