HISTORY IN THE MAKING
The 500 block of V Street NE has been named
the Sonia Gutierrez Campus Way recognizing the
legacy and impact of Sonia Gutierrez, the school’s
founder and innovative educator, for her 43 years
of service, and the impact of the school on the tens
of thousands of students who have transformed their
lives through the school’s education programs. The
street sign unveiling, held in June, was attended by
numerous council members and Mayor Muriel Bowser
as well as community leaders and friends of the
school. Food was prepared by the culinary arts career
training students and entertainment was provided by
talented student performers.
