A ROYAL VISIT
This past spring His Royal Highness Prince Charles
of Wales visited the school bringing national and
international attention to adult education and immigrant
integration efforts. On a school tour he visited classrooms
where students were engaged in learning activities like
a group practicing vowel sounds in an English language
literacy class, while in a computer assisted language
learning lab intermediate level ESL students were searching
for jobs online. His Royal Highness also met with school
leaders and board members and was honored with a gift
from the school community, which was presented by two
student representatives. In an interview with the Washington
Post Executive Director/CEO Allison Kokkoros said that the visit
was a validation of the hard work the students do every day to
build new lives in a new country.
