$1,677 Amount of funds raised and donated to Mary’s Center to help provide mental health services to unaccompanied minors from Latin America. COMMUNITY The School is engaged in many community-wide events as a way to serve the broader immigrant communities in the city and to foster stronger partnerships. During the 2014-15 school year we hosted our first Health and Wellness Fair in partnership with DC United. Additionally, the school participated in the citywide TamalFest with chef instructors serving as planning committee members and providing food safety trainings. A team of Culinary Arts Career Training students competed and won first place for best display. Culinary arts students also participated in a language access fundraising event providing cooking demonstrations and tasting samples for attendees. Throughout the year we hosted various national and international groups interested in learning more about our educational model. Serving the larger community, the school also hosted citywide healthcare sign up events and legal clinics, which brought highly trained, knowledgeable lawyers in to answer immigration questions.
