A Model for Achieving Foundational Diplomas The Carlos Rosario School’s Plaza Comunitarias program, which thanks to a partnership with the Mexican embassy allows immigrants to earn elementary and middle school certificates, has been deemed the best in the U.S. by the Consul General of the Mexican Embassy. Throughout the year the Mexican Consulate regularly showcased our school as a model for others interested in starting Plazas programs. Carlos Rosario School Shining stars tribute In spring 2012 two members of the Carlos Rosario School community were honored at the DC Association of Public Chartered Schools STARS tribute. HollyAnn Freso-Moore, who has taught ESL at the School for 11 years, was named “Most Outstanding Teacher for 2012.” We were also proud to have Salvadoran native Maria Carpio as “Most Outstanding Student of 2012.” 1 49 Sharing Lessons Learned in Math and Science This spring GED students put their knowledge to the test sharing with classmates and the school community math and science lessons learned. The auditorium and lower level hall were filled with innovative science projects and math concept displays. Partnership with Ana G. Mendez Over the past year the Carlos Rosario School has built a valuable partnership with the Ana G. Mendez University System. As part of the partnership, scholarships to the Ana G. Mendez University will be offered to faculty, staff and students of the School. In the first semester of the partnership three Carlos Rosario School recipients received scholarships.
