"The biggest obstacle is the embarrassment of others as they're a bit shocked and don't know how to react. People aren't sure what terminology to use and what will offend, but I don't mind people asking questions." Sam's mother Ursula said she would like to see the stigma surrounding dwarfism break down. "We want people to see people with dwarfism as individuals making positive contributions to society, who are equally capable and deserving of a life free of stereotypes. "For us it's not a bad word, and even more so after the trip to the US where we met so many happy and successful people with the condition. This was great to see as I think it left nothing but a positive outlook for Sam's future. If he was ever in doubt about any limitations I think this experience would have put them to bed. It definitely left Rob and I very confident about his future." So what does the future hold for Sam? As he said, he can do anything he puts his mind to. His next goal is to compete at the Nationals next April. Here he must compete against others in the Multi Class category, not necessarily people with dwarfism. It will be a challenge, he needs to cut eight seconds from his current time, but it is possible. He also wants to compete over the longer distances, like 400m. Ultimately he is aiming for the Paralympics. With his determination and skill, we know he can do it - there are no limits. FANTASTIC EFFORT SAM!!! WWW.ACTON.COM.AU
