The fast-paced growth in popularity of E15 among drivers has intrigued automotive experts and enthusiasts . The International Motor Press Association ’ s ( IMPA ) annual Test Days event , held in Monticello , New York , proved to be the perfect venue to give car fanatics a lesson in E15 performance . More than 200 automotive reporters , bloggers , and manufacturers attended the two-day event to test drive and learn about new cars and technologies — and ethanol was a hot topic .

Growth Energy CEO Emily Skor and Andy Randolph , PhD , technical director of ECR Engines for Richard Childress Racing , a developer and builder of Chevrolet engines for NASCAR , traveled to Monticello to talk shop with attendees . They took the opportunity to reintroduce automotive reporters — many of whom had not discussed ethanol in nearly a decade — to American ethanol and E15 .
During test drives , lunch meetings , and informal discussions , Skor and Dr . Randolph spoke with more than 25 automotive reporters about the benefits of E15 , educating them on how ethanol positively impacts engine performance . They also hosted reporters from Road & Track , SheBuysCars , WomenAutoKnow , Accent and Forum Magazines , Digital Trends , Autobytel . com , and other publications . The event generated substantive ethanol coverage , including CarGurus ’ blog post , The Truth About Ethanol .
American ethanol fuels most drivers across the country , with 97 percent of fuel pumped in the United States containing up to 10 percent ethanol . For years , E10 has been fueling America ’ s motors , but E15 is shaking things up , with more and more major retailers offering it at their stores . E15 packs more performance because it contains a natural octane rating of 113 and delivers more value by saving consumers between 5 and 10 cents per gallon , which is why leading retailers now offer it at over 600 locations across 28 states .
