And yo ’ H E ssence ow would YOU describe the experience of time away at Alpine, unplugged, for some fun, reconnection and soul-searching? What words would YOU use to explain adventuring in the forest and being re-introduced to our Creator when you Alpine have a little space and time to actually relish His invitation? There are so many layers of experience at Alpine, we thought we’d ask a few people to help capture the essence… Matthew I n addition to celebratory moments throughout the year, the big event will be the weekend of September 15-17, 2017. In preparation for the 60th anniversary, please send us stories of your own Alpine mountain- top encounters to stories@ alpine-cc.org. We’d love to weave these into our 60th Anniversary celebration! (Ideas:  you could include anything about your experience as a camper or staff member and how that influenced your life then and now). Stories, S’mores, Songs, Silliness, Stillness, inSights – something for all who have been a part of Alpine’s first 60 years. See if you and your family can make it this weekend for another mountaintop encounter with Jesus. (Read S’more Thoughts inside for more.)  OF 7th grader, Rolling Hills Covenant Church: “ I love to experience Savannah Age 16, Camper from South Coast Fellowship in Ventura: “ I’ve been to other camps. Alpine is different, the wilderness here, and to hang out with our group. It is great bonding time where we can reclaim our faith. When we woke up this morning, everything was covered with snow…it was like walking on powdered sugar! ” more welcoming. My time here equips me to be a better role model as I disciple younger girls at my church. ” Justin Cox , Speaker for some of Alpine’s JH and SH camps: “ The staff at Alpine is committed to making disciples of this next generation…not just the program staff, but all the way to the kitchen, maintenance and office staff. I’ve spoken at a lot of camps, but Alpine comes to the top with their commitment to teaching…it is almost impossible to not have some kind of encounter with God and Truth…it is life-changing. ” (continued on page 2) 1
