These mixes contain 10 to 20 perennial and annual species providing natural beauty and pollinator habitat all season long . Plant 8-12 lbs . per acre or 4 oz . per 1000 sq . ft . into weed free soil in early spring , or as soon as the soil warms up . Mechanical weed control is essential until flowers are well established . Mowing in the fall knocks the seed out of annual seed heads .
