AGC JOURNEYMAN UPGRADE PROGRAM

The AGC is proud to offer a new journeymen education program. The program allows journeymen
from AGC Apprenticeship member contractors to access an extensive variety of training and
education courses available through the AGC. Journeymen are encouraged to enroll in these
classes to increase their education, increase their value to the contractor, and further their careers
in the construction industry.

This fast-track program exposes participants to the fundamentals of construction drawings and
specifications and works through the various disciplines. This course uses both hard copy and on-screen
plans to fully demonstrate the techniques being taught.
Learning Objectives / Outcomes:
• Know how to navigate commercial plans and specifications
• Be able to follow the ‘roadmaps’ to find required information
• Know how to read various plan and detail notes
• Understand the various views
• Understand what material schedules are and how to use them
• Know the basic relationship between plans and specs
Plan topics include: Civil & Architectural, Structural & Electrical, Plumbing & Mechanical
Time: 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm
