Growing up in Las Vegas, on the Westside (the Black neighbourhood for the entire
town) I realized that the architects in our community were our parents and anyone
who cared about the impact of the environment on those who lived there. Outside
of the community, the only agency that really seemed to care and contribute to the
betterment within, were the government agencies. The private sector forgot about
us except when taking resources out of the neighbourhood was profitable for them.
