NORTH CAROLINA
Carolina Sports Journalism Camp is a four-day residential workshop from June 28 to July 1 at UNC-Chapel Hill . Rising high school juniors and seniors with an interest in sports and media are encouraged to apply . This workshop will include instructional sessions on sports broadcasting , sports writing , sports photography and much , much more . Registration fee of $ 500 for in-state students and $ 1000 for out-of-state students covers lodging , meals , instruction , press pass and camp T-shirt .

Chuck Stone Program for Diversity in Education and Media invites rising high school seniors with a career interest in journalism to apply for the summer 2017 workshop , held at UNC-Chapel Hill July 9-13 . The program welcomes students of varying diversity , including but not limited to religion , ethnicity , socioeconomic status and gender . The 12 students accepted to the one-week program will learn from classroom study , real-world reporting , newsroom practice and professional mentors . Paid expenses include airfare , meals and lodging .

North Carolina Scholastic Media Institute will be June 19-22 in the UNC-Chapel Hill School of Media and Journalism . High school journalism students and their teachers are invited to enroll . This intensive fourday workshop teaches innovative and effective ways of communicating through scholastic media . Instructors from across the state and nation offer their expertise in online news , newspaper , yearbook , literary magazine , photojournalism , design and broadcast news . High School Journalism Workshop at Ohio University from July 12 to 15 offers students the chance to explore journalism from multiple perspectives — all of which reflect the changing nature and growing demands of the craft . The workshop will include faculty from the School of Journalism and the School of Visual Communication , as well as staff from WOUB . In addition , several visiting professionals will serve as classroom instructors . Cost : $ 300 , scholarships available .

Oklahoma Institute for Diversity in Journalism exposes youth to careers in the world of daily journalism . Selected students will be given free room and board in a residence hall on the University of Oklahoma campus from June 24 to July 1 . This program is supported by the Dow Jones News Fund .

AAJA JCAMP is a six-day intensive , multicultural journalism training program at Temple University from July 22 to 27 , for high school students hosted by the Asian American Journalists Association ( AAJA ). Students learn from professional journalists and get hands-on training in writing , reporting , photography , television and radio broadcasting , online media and data journalism . Sessions and workshops are led by experienced journalists from top media companies . JCamp is an allexpenses-paid program with travel , meals and lodging covered by AAJA ’ s donors and partners . AAJA welcomes applications from all students regardless of race , ethnicity , country of origin , religion , socioeconomic status , gender , gender identity , sexual orientation or political affiliation . JCamp is open to high school students currently in their freshman , sophomore or junior year .
