Mosaic Journalism Workshop The Dow Jones News Fund sponsors the Mosaic Journalism Workshop at San Jose State University in San Jose , California , June 11-23 . It is a non-profit program established in 1991 by four journalists who wanted to mentor and inspire future journalists . Mosaic has trained hundreds of high school students , many of whom became professionals in traditional and new media . Mosaic alumni have gone on to work at the San Jose Mercury News , San Francisco Chronicle , NBC-KNTV 11 , Los Angeles Times , Atlanta Journal Constitution , Minneapolis Star Tribune and other news media .

Connecticut Health Investigative Team Summer Reporting Workshop offers two sessions : July 9-14 at Yale University in New Haven , Connecticut and July 17-21 at the University of Connecticut in Storrs , Connecticut . The Dow Jones News Fund underwrites scholarships for high school students to attend . Selected students develop investigative reporting skills in a unique workshop environment led by local and national journalists . Students will learn the tools of investigative journalism by participating in workshops led by award-winning journalists ; working on stories for publication ; and spending a day visiting a local newsroom .

Peace Sullivan / James Ansin High School Workshop in Journalism and New Media at the University of Miami in Coral Gables , Florida , from July 8-29 is supported by the Dow Jones News Fund . Accepted students live in the college residence halls , work with experienced faculty and professionals and produce a printed newspaper and website on a topic of interest to South Florida . The program includes an intensive audio-video boot camp , classes in reporting and writing , media law , ethics and the business of journalism .
