so I had a bunch of guys who were years seven and up . A lot of older guys like Jacob Bell . He played next to meet and he was a veteran who would look out for me . There were so many guys . The whole team would look out for me . On the other teams … I can ’ t even really think about it because it ’ s been so long ago . A lot of the guys we had on the team during my second year ended up leaving the team . During my third year it was like a whole different team , I think there were only like five of us left from the year before . They completely cleaned house , so that was pretty crazy . I used to talk to Orlando Pace a lot just about football in general . He was always that big inspiration for me ; him and my father . So I used to live by the words that they said religiously .
You ’ ve been in the league for several years now and you ’ re now in that position where you can give advice to the rookies as they enter the league . Was there any advice that you gave to Jared Goff or any advice that you continue to give to him to help ease his transition into the NFL ? Basically that we all start out pretty talented . It comes down to how hard you ’ re going to work and how well you take care of your body . The good thing about Jared Goff was that when they gave him the starting job he was the first guy in the building . Then he really started to watch films and understand defenses . He started getting better and better as the weeks progressed . For the others guys , hard work is really the key to being successful in this game . You really get out of it what you put into it and if you ’ re hesitant at all playing this game it ’ s going to humble you in a serious way . Some guys heard it once and took it to heart and other guys learned the hard way by being humbled . But either way you come to find out how crazy this game can be .
