Yeah , obviously TV shows have had a massive impact on that stigmatism . It ’ s definitely a good and a bad thing . I guess it ’ s mostly TV shows and celebrities . At one point David Beckham was considered “ the ” tattooed celebrity . No one really gave a shit about other celebrities tattoos but now it ’ s like every time a celebrity gets a tattoo it ’ s huge news . It ’ s all over the internet and people are seeking out the people these celebrities have been tattooed by . I don ’ t want to say that tattoo artists are like celebrities but they have a newfound level of respect now .
You can see the difference now . For example , when you go to conventions you see people asking the artists if they can take pictures with them … Yeah I know ! It ’ s so strange and I think about that all the time . People ask to take a picture with me , I mean , of course I like that they appreciate my artwork . That ’ s a huge compliment and flattering . It ’ s very strange how much it ’ s changed . Tattoo artists now are idolized by people and people have portraits by them tattooed on their bodies . They ’ ll fly thousands of miles and spend thousands of dollars to get tattooed by them . It ’ s kind of nuts .
How much has your art background had an impact on the way you do tattoos , your quality of work or the way that you view tattoos ? I think that art school has helped my drawing but in a different way
