Croatian Adventure : Dalmatian Coast Journey

CONCEPT : Join Anderson Ranch Artistic Director Andrea Wallace and artist Mia Semingson for a week of personalized photography instruction as we tour Croatia with the nationally recognized tour company Butterfield and Robinson . On the sparkling east shore of the Adriatic Sea lie the emerald islands of the Dalmatian Archipelago .
Over 1,000 islands , islets and reefs protect the mainland of Croatia and provide an idyllic setting for photography , exploration and adventure . Habitation ranges from the tiniest villages hidden in secluded coves to the Adriatic jewels of Hvar and Korcula . We visit the ancient cities of Split and Dubrovnik , behind whose massive ramparts is a world of striking beauty and fascinating history , augmented with a rousing culinary scene . Wander through ancient streets and along emerald sea shores , all while expanding your photographic skill set and artistic eye .
During your visit and personal journey through this region , you are encouraged to produce your own series of creative images through guided observations and personal coaching . We have daily excursions to explore the cities of Split and Dubrovnik as well as outings to Krka National Park , the island of Hvar and the Unesco World Heritage Site of Mostar , Bosnia .
We strike a balance between fieldwork , discussions , new technical and aesthetic material , and the freedom to explore and photograph the region . This workshop focuses on gaining more creative control of your digital camera , understanding the principles of composition , and moving beyond cliché in photography .
While we have a daily curriculum , the most valuable part of the workshop is having plenty of hands-on time each day to put what you are learning into practice . Also important is having time to share your process and images with other participants . You apply what you are discovering in a gorgeous , stimulating and inspirational setting with different venues to photograph each day . This workshop is geared to all travel and camera enthusiasts interested in gaining more confidence and more creative control of the features of a digital camera and improving photography skills . All kinds of cameras are welcome , from cell phones to DSLRs .
FACULTY : Andrea Wallace is the Artistic Director of Photography & New Media at Anderson Ranch Arts Center . She received her M . F . A . from the University of Colorado , Boulder . She exhibits nationally and internationally with numerous shows throughout the Americas , Europe , China and the Middle East .

Mia Semingson received her M . F . A . from the University of Colorado , Boulder and subsequently taught photography in the Department of Art and Art History there for 11 years . She owns Two Hands Paperie where she teaches workshops in book and paper arts , encaustic and mixed media . Mia has traveled extensively in Croatia and exhibits her work nationally and internationally .
Tuition includes airport pick-up , hotel , field excursions , in-country transportation , welcome and farewell dinner , instruction and breakfasts . Airfare not included .
