April 17, 2017
Dear Directors,
Thank you for your participation in the 2017 season of the Winter Guard Association of Southern California.
We know that you have options for your competitive Color Guard needs and we are honored to be your
choice.
The 2017 competitive season has proven again to be one of the WGASC’s most successful to date! We saw
membership growth, with the addition of the Las Vegas color guard. We have enjoyed our growth in the Las
Vegas region and we are excited to continue that relationship as we move into the future. We have also seen a
consistency in the number of performance opportunities we have for our units. Whether it be the multitude
of contests or the broad geographic regions to choose from, we feel confident that each of our members can
build a sufficient performance season for every level of development and their competitive needs.
Additionally, it is with pride that we are able to consistently provide outstanding adjudication by well-trained
local, national, and WGI level judges to foster all of our members at all levels of competition.
In addition to celebrating a successful season, the WGASC staff and executive committee have continued to
emphasize a more customer service focused approach to our organization. We hope that you have enjoyed
our presence on social media this season, as we have really taken a more intentional approach to celebrating
our members and performers through this contemporary platform. This Championship weekend, you will also
see the addition of a volunteer program. Although in its beginning stages, the Volunteer program is designed
to help our members give back to the organization while assisting the staff in running these WGASC hosted
contests. We look forward to continuing to develop these programs to better enhance our member
experience in the years to come.
Please join me in thanking our Executive Director, Scott Bilbruck, and the entire WGASC staff for all of their
work in creating and producing the WGASC contests this season. It is through their efforts that the 2017
WGASC season has been such a success. As we wrap up this season, we look forward to our future and we
intend to continue to provide consistent quality contests with superior adjudication for you, your performers,
and your supporters.
The WGASC exists to serve your needs as arts educators. We want to hear from you as we continue to
develop professionally for the 2018 season. Your feedback is extremely valuable to us and assists us in making
decisions on the WGASC product. Our annual spring association meeting is Saturday, May 6 th and we look
forward to seeing you there.
We appreciate your membership and hope you and your performers had a positive and memorable
experience this weekend, and this season.
Thank you,
Melissa Samson
