Old Faceful Mining Company Old Faceful is Jellystone Park ’ s very own mine and panning sluice . The mine is a fabricated shaft that families enter wearing hard hats and search for rocks , shells , and gemstones . Cost is $ 6 per person . Each panning kit contains 8 - 10oz . of assorted gemstones or fossils hidden among the sand . Prices for the kits range from $ 6 - $ 20 . Gemstones are available for purchase at the Convenience Store & Mini Golf Shack .
