The Calabasas Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce that Salon Nuuvo and Founder Rachel Harrison have been chosen for the United Chambers of Commerce Small Business of the Year Award by the Calabasas Chamber .
Salon Nuuvo ’ s Raychel Harrison has been instrumental as a business owner , working with the Women ’ s Shelter Light House , volunteering to do their hair and make-up several times a year . Raychel and her husband have worked tirelessly on behalf of several local retail businesses , working with the City of Calabasas Planning Commission on changing the current sign ordinance by attending several planning and council meetings .

Harrison has had a distinguished career as a hairstylist , platform artist , American Board Certified hair colorist , and award-winning salon owner .
In 1998 , Harrison left California to pursue her dream of becoming a celebrity hair stylist . She worked as an apprentice at the famed Robert Cromeans Salon at the Mandalay Bay Hotel in Las Vegas , where she mentored under industry icon Robert Cromeans . She became a platform artist for John Paul Mitchell Systems in 2002 , and traveled the country with the show team , teaching the latest hair collections to hair stylists .
At the peak of her career in 2003 , Raychel met her husband , Audley Harrison , an Olympic Gold Medalist boxer from England , and they married in 2005 . In 2008 , she enhanced her credentials by studying to become an American Board Certified hair colorist and graduating in 2009 by passing the most stringent examination of hair coloring proficiency in the country .
Raychel then set a new goal of becomingaa salon owner in 2010 . Her vision involved team work , technical excellence through education , and impeccable customer service . In December 2011 , her vision was realized with the opening of Salon Nuuvo in Calabasas .
Regarded as the premier hair salon of Calabasas , Salon Nuuvo became the recipient of the Reader ’ s Choice “ Best Hair Salon ” of Calabasas in 2012 by Patch Online . Harrison was then honored with the “ Rising Star ” accolade at the San Fernando Valley Business Journal Women In Business Awards in 2012 .
To help do their part in giving back to their community , Raychel has volunteered as a classroom parent at White Oak Elementary School , while Audley has served as a board member with Together Helping Education of the Las Virgenes School District , who ’ s mission is to raise funds to support teachers and counselors in the LVSD .
Salon Nuuvo recently received national recognition as a finalist at the North American Hair Styling Awards , the most prestigious awards ceremony in the beauty industry , which takes place each year in Las Vegas , Nevada .
