SUSTAINABLE FOOD & FARM
CONFERENCE: An annual two-day event
held in January organized by farmers for
farmers and the community they serve.
Held in Grass Valley, the conference brings
together a diverse panel of speakers, farming related businesses and organizations.
SIERRA HARVEST: The organization was
formed to educate, inspire and connect
Nevada County’s families to fresh, local,
seasonal food. One of its projects is the
Sustainable Food & Farm Conference.
They also offer farmer training, support
families in growing part of their fruits
and vegetables, and provide programs for
children, such as summer camps and farm
to school education in local class rooms.

NEVADA COUNTY RESOURCE
CONSERVATION DISTRICT (NCRCD):
Offers free landowner assistance in areas
such as soil information, pasture manage-

ment and wildlife habitat improvement. The
NCRCD holds seminars throughout the year
and has a free loan program where landowners can borrow hand tools.
Also on its calendar are educational and
outreach events, and seminars are held at
the Nevada County Fair.

NEVADA COUNTY FARM BUREAU:
Membership is not just for farmers and
ranchers. The Farm Bureau is a family-oriented organization open to everyone interested
in the county’s agricultural resources.
It is part of the California Farm Bureau
Federation and provides a wide range of
services, as well as scholarships for graduating seniors.
