others respected him. He was killed on April 4, 1968 by a racist man named James Earl Ray. This action brought an end to peaceful protest and America was affected hard by this action. Martin Luther King Jr. will be remembered throughout human history as one of the best Civil Right leaders in the world.

In 1948, Martin Luther King Jr. began his college education going to Morehouse College where he obtained a sociology degree and he also attended Liberal Crozer Theological Seminary in Chester, Pennsylvania. In both schools he thrived in his studies and was even valedictorian and elected student body president when he graduated in 1951. In his early years of college he got involved with a woman and was drinking alchol. It was not till he was under the guidance of Benjamin E. Mays at the seminary that his spiritual development began. Mays taught king that Christianity had the potential force for social change in the matters of racial equality. King was accepted into many colleges for his doctoral study but he decided to choose Boston University. At Boston University he met his wife Coretta Scott. They got married in 1953 and had four children. While still working on his dissertation he became pastor of Dexter Avenue Baptist Church of Montgomery, Alabama. In 1955 he received his doctorate at the age of 25.

Martin Luther King, Jr., was a great man who worked for racial equality and civil rights in the United States of America. He was born on January 15, 1929, in Atlanta, Georgia. Martin was an excellent student in school; he skipped grades in both elementary school and high school . Martin entered Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia, when he was only 15 years old. Martin experienced racism early in life. During the 1950's, Dr. King became active in the movement for civil rights and racial equality. He participated in the Montgomery, Alabama bus boycott and many other peaceful demonstrations that protested the unfair treatment of African-Americans. He won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964. Dr. King was assassinated on April 4, 1968, in Memphis, Tennessee.
