COR

By: Huey Campbell

From Friday, January 13, to Sunday, January 15, fifty-two candidates from Archbishop Shaw High School and Academy of Our Lady participated in CAJUN COR (Christ in Others Retreat) XXIII.

In 1970, the first COR was held in the London Diocese in Stratford, Ontario, Canada. In the United States, COR began in South Bend, Indiana and spread throughout the nation, eventually coming to Marrero, Louisiana. From 1983-2000, the legendary CAJUN COR invited over 800 candidates from Archbishop Shaw High School, Archbishop Blenk High School, and Immaculata High School to participate until CAJUN COR XXII in 2000. However after a seventeen year hiatus, CAJUN COR returned, following all the traditions that were practiced many years ago.

The candidates of CAJUN COR XXIII are prohibited from disclosing the details of COR, but as a candidate of COR, I can say the retreat was rejuvenating, breathtaking, and, most absolutely, life-changing. Although we may not speak of the retreat with words, we are able to tell the tale by how we act.
