Porter Valley Country Club, located on Singing Hills Dr., has been a
fixture in Porter Ranch since 1968. It features an 18-hole, par 70 course
created by Ted Robinson, Sr., a driving range, tennis courts, fitness center,
junior Olympic pool, and restaurant and banquet facilities.
Porter Ranch Town Center truly lives up to its name. It offers
electronics, home décor, toy, art, jewelry stores and banks as well as other
amenities, and in a quieter and less congested local setting.
Downtown Chatsworth began at the intersection of Topanga Canyon
Blvd. and Lassen St. As the area’s population expanded, so did its
business district. Today, the downtown area is a mixture of new buildings
alongside much older ones, some with modern designs and others in a
western motif. There are motels, hotels, doctor and dentist offices, florists,
and restaurants. Still zoned for horse properties, there are hitching posts
at Los Toros Mexican Restaurant and the Cowboy Palace Saloon.
Greig Smith LAPD Devonshire Youth Center (P.A.L.S.), which
opened in the fall of 2009, sits on Old Depot Rd., as you enter from
Lassen St., just down the block from the Chatsworth Chamber office and
the train and bus depots. The Police Athletic League Supporters (PALS)
program began in 1973 when local business and community leaders
decided to help police officers working in the Devonshire Division keep
youngsters out of the juvenile justice system. The program gives the
children a safe place to learn, be creative and play sports
