SYMPOSIUM JOHN RAINES has taught in the religion department at Temple University for the past 47 years. Raines, a “Freedom Rider” who was jailed in 1964, joined the anti-Vietnam movement. Eventually, he and his wife Bonnie became a part of The Citizens Commission to Investigate the FBI, which led to Betty Medsger’s revelations of civil rights violations.
