Although Tennessee must continue work to enhance the college readiness of all students, disaggregating ACT
performance by racial and ethnic groups demonstrates the persistent readiness gaps between African American
and Hispanic students and their white and Asian American peers. Six percent more white students scored at or
above three or four subject area benchmarks on the 2015 ACT than on the 2011 ACT. That gain contrasts to the two
percentage-point gain over that time for African American students.
