The junior from Niceville, Florida led the Nighthawks at the plate in her first season in Dahlonega with a .469 batting average, collecting 19 doubles, nine home runs, and 52 runs batted in. Hartness was the only hitter in Division II with at least 150 at bats to have only struck out two times or less. Heyer ended her North Georgia career with a bang. She has received her first All-Conference, All-Region and now All-America honor all in her spectacular senior season. The Marietta native hit a .415 clip on the year with 15 doubles, three triples, and seven home runs with 49 RBI, all dispite missing 10 games this year. Heyer added 12 stolen bases with her .701 slugging percentage. With the three selections this season, North Georgia is now tied with Indianapolis for most the most All-America selections (13) since the program was started 10 year ago. The All-America program is selected by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and is in its first year of new sponsorship with the D2CCA. Armstrong State’s Roth; Young Harris’ Perrucci Named Academic All-Americans AUSTIN, TEXAS – Armstrong State’s Peyton Roth and Young Harris’ Jeanie Perrucci were named Division II Academic All-Americans as selected by CoSIDA. This is only the fifth time that the PBC has had multiple players earn the honor, which is widely regarded as the highest honor a student-athlete can receive. Perrucci, a junior outfielder/pitcher from Duluth, Georgia, was named a second team Academic All-American. She led the Mountain Lions with a .378 batting average as well as at-bats (185), runs (49), hits (70) and stolen bases (16). The two-time All-PBC perform- er also drove in 17 runs and has a .411 on-base percentage. Perrucci won five games in 24 appearances (19 starts) in the pitching circle for YHC. She posted three complete games for the Mountain Lions and struck out 70 in 100.2 innings pitched. Perrucci was second in the Peach Belt in runs, third in hits, fifth in at-bats, sixth in plate appearances, and ninth in batting average. Perrucci, who was named to the Peach Belt All-Academic Softball Team this year, has a 3.94 cumulative GPA as an interdisciplinary studies. She is the 15th Mountain Lion to earn the honor and the third year a member of the YHC softball team has been recognized. Peyton Roth earns a spot on the third team for a second consecutive season. From Fayetteville, Ga., she carries a 3.88 GPA in health and physical education for the Pirates, who advanced to the NCAA DII Softball Championships semifinals. On the field, Roth hit .363 with a team-leading 45 runs scored, 19 stolen bases and 69 hits. Roth earned second-team All-Peach Belt Conference honors and D2CCA All-Southeast Region honors this season after earning first-team All-Peach Belt and second-team NFCA DII All-American honors as a junior in 2015. She is the second Armstrong State softball player to be a two-time Academic All-American in her career, joining Shelby Duff (2012 & 2013). She is the fourth PBC softball player to be honored twice in her career. The CoSIDA Division II Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structure to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2015-16 Division II Academic All-America® teams program. To be nominated, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore with a 3.30 cumulative grade point average and must be a starter or a significant reserve on her team.
