Championships in Bradenton, Florida with a seeded time of 2:10.11
in the 800 meter. The Lawrenceville, Georgia native experienced an
exceptional senior campaign, as she set the program record in both the
800 meter and the 1500 meter during the outdoor slate.
Clayton State’s Jessica Matthews will make her sixth overall trip
to the national championships in the triple jump following a pair of
appearances during indoor, first as a freshman in 2013 (18th, 11.51m)
and again earlier this year. In the latter, she broke her own school record
twice at the championships (12.35- and 12.40m) and finished third to
become the first member of the program to earn All-American honors.

Nine PBC Track & Field Athletes Earn All-America at
NCAA Championships
team in PBC history, with a run of 3:39.33 back at the Florida Relays,
which stands as the third-fastest time in the nation heading into the
championships.
Walker will also compete individually in the 400 as she set an
NCAA automatic qualifying time of 52.88 at the PBC Championships,
fourth-fastest in the nation this year. Christina Aldana and Yamara
Robinson will both compete in the triple jump while Ansley Long be
in the long jump and Emily Buwalda in the 800 meters.
The Nova Southeastern University women’s track and field
team will send Shakira Bartley, Sherrelle Jordan, Shannon Rolle and
Ciona Williams to the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track. While all four
runners qualified for the women’s 4x100 meter relay, Jordan and
Williams will also compete in their own individual events. A junior
from Chandler, Ariz., Jordan will compete in the women’s 100-meter
hurdles, while Williams will have to opportunity to run in the women’s 100-meter dash.
The University of Alabama in Huntsville will be represented by
Ackiesha Burnett and Vicky Winslow from the UAH women.
A 2015 Outdoor All-American, Burnett has continued to be
a strong contributor for the Chargers in the 2016 campaign, as the
senior ranks sixth nationally with a program-record time of 13.61 in
100 meter hurdles set this past weekend at the North Carolina A&T
Invitational. Burnett finished fifth overall at Nationals last season
with a time of 13.96.
Winslow will be competing in the 800 meter at the NCAA
BRADENTON, FLA – A record nine Peach Belt student-athletes earned
All-America status at the recently completed NCAA National Championships in Bradenton, Fla. The nine honorees eclipses the previous mark
of seven set last year. Six of the nine came from Shorter, who finished
20th overall in the women’s team scoring and 29th in the men.
The final day of competition saw all six Shorter competitors come
away with All-American honors, with Ayana Walker earning accolades
in two events on the evening.
Walker, in her final NCAA Championship, earned a spot in the
finals in each of the events she participated in, turning in a third place
finish in the 400m in a time of 53.25. She closes out her Shorter career
